Size Matters…

After 10 years of DJing wedding receptions one thing I always noticed made a huge difference in the general atmosphere of a reception hall and dance floor was the size of it.  Yes, in this case as most all cases in life, size does matter!  But in this rare occasion larger is NOT always better.  Some of the most successful parties and wedding receptions I have seen all had very well proportioned room sizes to the number of guests they had at the event.  And (in more cases then not) the rooms that were just slightly on the smaller side almost always had the best vibe. If the room or dance floor was too large it gave the feeling that it was empty, even if there were 200 people in there.  I would always recommend taking the size of your reception hall into consideration based on the number of people you have filling it and make sure you don't have a room too large for the event.  It would also be my recommendation to size your dance floor so that you would expect to fit between 25-30% of your guest list on it at any given time.  Anything larger then that and it will feel as though it is empty even if everyone is on it, and no one really enjoys dancing on an empty dance floor!
