Well, we live in an area that has amazing sunsets. We've always enjoyed sitting outside watching the sun go down and talking about anything and everything, learning more about each other. Our times on the patio are special to us. My girl had filed for divorce from her husband and it was almost final. I found the ring and bought it.

On August 18, 2008 I suggested that we go outside and enjoy the sunset. We went outside. As we were standing there, I wrapped my arms around her and just told her how amazing she is and how much I love her. Then I let go of her and began to look into her eyes. The moment was right, so I got down on one knee and told her that I would be honored if she would spend the rest of her life with me. Of course she said yes!! We are planning our ceremony for June 6, 2009.

We are both very happy and excited!! Smile

Mine isn't so much a romantic proposal as it is funny.

We had only been together for just barely a month, and we were hanging out at a sports bar with some of our (straight) friends. We were playing a joke on one of our friends, saying that we had decided to run off and get married…and everyone was freaking out because we hadn't been together very long and all of that… then in the middle of what I thought was a joke, she text messages me and says " Seriously though… will you marry me?". I was so shocked I thought she was just messing with me, but she wasn't kidding….and after a few minutes of sitting in mouth covered shock… I said Yes!

My lesbianism is an act of Christian charity. All of those women out there searching for a man, and I'm giving them my share. -Rita Mae Brown

Actually I never got engaged and this story I'm about to tell you is on my friend. Her partner surprised her in the restaurant while they're having romantic dinner. It's their 4th anniversary of being together and we as their friends feel that it is about time that they got engaged and hook-up because they're so in love and inseperable.
